Emergency readiness is a pre-arranged system to prevent, prepare, respond and recover from emergencies caused by natural disasters and human-caused events such as violent incidents or accidents that affect others. The following information is to assist you in developing a readiness plan and for educating your staff, students and parents.
The resources provided deal with programming in general and certain practices may not be applicable to 21st CCLC. If you are unsure if a recommended practice is permissible, please contact your program officer at the Pennsylvania Department of Education.
21st CCLC Basic Emergency Plan Template
All Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers are required to develop a formal, written emergency readiness plan that is specific and applicable to the afterschool program needs. This template will guide centers through various emergency scenarios and provide direction on the needed information for each. Customize the content as needed and be sure to keep the plan updated.

Planning for the Needs of Children in Disasters
