Professional Development Plan

Grantees should develop a professional development plan for afterschool teachers and provide the written plan to their Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) program officer for approval. 21st CCLC funds cannot be used for non-sanctioned and/or non-approved conference expenses. There is no approval for workshops not applicable to afterschool programs.

21stCCLC Summer Symposium 2024

July 31 – Aug. 1, 2024 | San Francisco, California

The Summer Symposium will feature successful strategies that State educational agencies (SEAs) and their subgrantees have implemented to manage all components of a 21st CCLC program. Attendees will hear from nationally recognized speakers during plenary sessions and work closely with education experts and peers during interactive workshops. SEA staff and subgrantees will gain valuable perspectives on afterschool issues and receive important updates about the 21st CCLC program.

This year’s theme is The Bridge to Excellence: Together We Can, Together We Will. Ideas for increasing capacity, promoting equity, and bridging practitioners and communities to meet student social, emotional, and academic needs are woven throughout each of this year’s Symposium strands.

The Pennsylvania Department of Education has decided that because of the Summer Symposium location and expense this year, at least one person per entity (not 2 per cohort) receiving 21st First Century Community Learning Center funding is required to attend the summer symposium. i.e. ABC, Inc. could send only one staffer to represent their two C11 grants. Please reach out to your TA Provider with any questions about this requirement.
