Many high schools focus on enhancing student performance in basic academic skills and, as a result, many schools do not have the time to provide opportunities during the school day for all students to learn about college and career options.
Afterschool and summer learning programs can be a great place to expose students to career options, to make the link between academics and future career goals and even to guide students through the process of exploring majors and applying to college.
